SPUN-DYED VISCOSE AND POLYESTER FIBRES MAKE AN INNOVATION

Two of the leading fibre producers – Lenzing and Märkische Faser – are joining forces. The spun-dyed viscose fibre from Lenzing and the spun-dyed polyester fibre from Märkische can now be spun into one single yarn.

Both companies are market leaders in their respective fields: Lenzing with its spun-dyed viscose fibre, Märkische Faser with its spun-dyed polyester fibre. Natural viscose versus easy-care polyester: As usual – the whole is better than the sum of its individual parts. A 50/50 % blend provides an ideal result of maximum performance, excellent wearing properties and optical elegance.

A pre-requisite for this innovational development, which has attracted significant attention in the textile and apparel industry, was the special know-how of both companies. There is a wide range of applications for the new fibre blend, in particular where there is a need for large quantities of fabric of a precisely defined shade and where comfort and wearing properties are of prime importance – for example in professional clothing and corporate fashion.

It is not only the functional properties of viscose/polyester fibre but also the ecological and economical advantages that need to be emphasized. A sizable list of orders confirms that the initially available six main colours are in perfect correlation with market demand.
